Four Seasons Journey: Gift 3

{Inspired by Women’s Health Week I wanted to share some of the gifts I’ve received from participating in the Four Seasons Journey – one of the best things I’ve ever done in terms of my health and power as a woman!}

img_1828The first thing we do in the Four Seasons Journey is make a drum, ancient pan-cultural instrument of power and insight.

My drum connects me in primal ways to my sisters, humanity, Mother Earth and all her creatures, the beat as old as the first heartbeat, and older yet, echoing down through time to this present moment.

My drum is a means by which to still my mind, that I might travel deeply inside, receiving wisdom from within.

My drum transmutes my anxiety quickly and simply.

My drum is a way of sending love and support – aural prayers floating on the wind, reaching around the world.

My drum was birthed – cut, soaked, woven, adorned – by my own hands, Witness to my Way of making and creating.

My drum is a friend, understood slowly over many seasons in an ongoing attunement.

And what is it to journey?
To dive deep into an ancient symbolic language of our own making.

I pad the Himalayas as/with Snow Leopard, alone, peak after shining peak stretching into the distance.  I breathe in the stillness, knowing it is part of me.

I soar the night sky as/with Bat, with open wings, nourished by height and freedom.

I climb high, through mist and cloud, to reach Adele, Incan priestess; the golden Adonis-Lover; the Grandmother; Butterfly; goddesses of wisdom; my Inner Council.  I ask questions and receive from a body of wisdom much greater than I.

To journey is to discover a radical inner resourcing, available to everyone.
