Chiron Reading

chiron astrology reading stepping off a cliffThis astrology reading explores the archetype of Chiron ~ the Sacred Wound, the Wounded Healer ~ in your natal chart. Listen for what painful experiences you are being called to transmute or reimagine, and anchor the original vision for love and connection which you brought with you to this life when you were born.

Myth
Chiron is the centaur of Greek myth and namesake of a particular asteroid in the cosmic sky.  Chiron is the archetype of the Sacred Wound, the Wounded Healer, the Embodied teacher.

Archetype
Chiron as a point on your natal chart represents “a ‘tender spot’ within the self-definition, a place which cannot be strengthened through self-talk, outer achievements or outside validation.  It might also be described as the raw feeling of being too exposed, too vulnerable, permanently broken or somehow defeated.” (from astrologer Adam Gainsburg)

Sacred Wound
A wound implies an original vision.  We come into this world with some kind of knowing how things could be, especially in terms of love and connection.

The wound occurs when our vision is lost, hidden, discarded, undermined, scattered and shattered in our interactions with our families and the world we find ourselves in.

We render our wound sacred when we welcome home these excruciatingly vulnerable and endangered parts of ourselves, by feeling all the feelings they invoke in us, by hearing their stories and needs, by holding our witness perspective and practicing radical self-acceptance.  Truly a lifework!

Spiritual Awakening
Powerful words from Jean Houston in her book The Search for the Beloved:
“In times of suffering, when you feel abandoned, perhaps even annihilated, there is occurring – at levels deeper than your pain – the entry of the sacred, the possibility of redemption.  Wounding opens the doors of our sensibility to a larger reality, which is blocked by our habituated and conditioned point of view.  Consciousness that had been previously well-robotised and trained to the consensual perspective of our particular culture is excruciatingly sensitized and has a vastly extended sensorium.  Pathos give us eyes and ears to see and hear what our normal eyes and ears cannot.”

And from this place of seeing and hearing, of feeling all the feelings, of “doing a Rumi” and welcoming them all in…

… from this place we are the Wounded Healer, the Embodied Teacher, sharing a humble yet extraordinarily potent medicine with the world.

Astrological Rite of Passage
Chiron has a roughly 50-year cycle, so when we reach 49-50 years of age, we experience what astrologers call our CHIRON RETURN.

Our Chiron Return represents a powerful call to include/integrate and transcend the stories of pain and vulnerability that have shaped us and the corresponding defensive postures which continue to constrain our full potential.

In this session we pull out key dates from your Chiron journey (throughout your life to date), enquiring into repeated themes and stories at these times in your life, listening for what soul evolution is being sung up within you, and doing our best to discover and anchor the original vision for love and connection which you brought with you when you were born.

Lilith Reading

lilith astrology reading woman reflectingThis astrology reading explores the archetype of Lilith – the ‘wild feminine‘ – in your natal chart and your embodied experience.

Explore four different positions of Lilith and gain clarity as to how this powerful archetypal energy plays out in your life and how you can live the healed version!

Archetype
Lilith is an expression of the Wild Feminine, the Dark Feminine. This energy is known by other names also: Kali, Persephone, Black Madonna, Black Dakini, Bloedeuwedd, Inanna…

Four Positions of Lilith
In this reading we will look at four positions of Lilith:
~ asteroid Lilith
~ Dark Moon/Waldemath Lilith
~ and both the true and mean positions of Black Moon Lilith

These astronomical entities, sharing the name ‘Lilith,’ operate at “different celestial octaves.” (M. Kelley Hunter)

The asteroid Lilith points to a ‘site’ of initial wounding of our feminine selves.

The Dark Moon Lilith indicates where we find ourselves ‘exiled,’ as per the Lilith story, in response to our wounding.

And the two Black Moon Lilith positions point to the gifts we have received as part of this difficult journey, and the arenas of life in which we are called to embody them, in service to the world!

"Clear distilled and accurate vision of my chart, especially my Lilith readings. Highly recommend Grace. I'm not an astrology type either really so her language was perfect for me."

Soul Query

soul query astrology reading path into the unknownThis astrology reading is a ‘container of time’ in which to explore a particular interest, soul query or question you are holding, calling on the symbolism, patterns, cycles and sacred geometry of astrology to bring insight and possibility.

Approach
We start orienting your current experience in a 30-year lunar cycle (progressed lunar cycle) in order to identify the general tasks and opportunities of the moment. If you’re in a ‘letting-go’ phase, there can be some peace in knowing this, and trusting that the dissolution will cease at some point (because it always does, and the moment of your birth provides concrete dates for these shifts).

From here, we jump into the specific soul query or experience about which you are seeking clarity.  Transiting/progressing planets may provide information about aspects of yourself that are being impacted at this time.

The nature of our conversation depends a lot on your age and what’s arising for you at the moment – please let me know what you are interested in talking about!

We live in a conscious cosmos that is permeated with a creative intelligence and an intrinsic order. Every life has a purpose within the larger whole. Astrology is one means by which to discern this purpose.

My Approach

Astrology is a vast field in which I will always be a student.  The best approach, I find, is one of exploration and curiosity.

I’ve been offering readings since 2013.  I feel privileged to hear people’s life stories and I love how the sacred geometry of planetary movement over time can help us gain perspective on what’s happening right now.

We all share a human hunger for patterns.  Not everyone “speaks astrology,” but it is an ancient and powerful language of image, symbol and archetype, which can help us articulate our current position, understand the soul’s calling we were born with, and shed light on our next steps.

We bring meaning to the birth chart by holding an intention of clarity – astrology as a gateway to our inner knowing.

As a map, astrology points us towards some pertinent questions and may help us create meaning, but we won’t confuse it with the actual terrain, ie. you and your life, with its inherent ecology of experience, choice and possibility.

There are numerous ways the archetypes of astrology can be expressed, and for this reason, I find the map most helpful when we can anchor the symbology in some lived experience.  Our conversations often start with some story-telling, prompted by particular dates suggested by your birth chart.

From here we can start to explore what a general, multi-faceted symbol like Jupiter might represent for you specifically, and how you may be embodying this energy in this lifetime.

Tradition

My practice is informed by traditional astrology, the inheritance of almost two thousand years of astrological inquiry, dating back to the Babylonians, and incorporating Persian, Greek and Roman understandings.

For those who are familiar with astrological concepts and structures, practically this means I use whole-sign houses, and traditional planetary rulerships.

The internationally renowned traditional astrologer, Demetra George, has been very influential in my work, along with evolutionary astrologer Mark Jones.

Indigenous Astronomy, by Carmelo Amalfi
“In Australia, the evidence suggests early Aboriginal people observed the stars and composed stories handed down by their ancestors through songs and dance and images of the sky recorded on bark and rocks. The more accurately they knew the position and movement of the Sun, Moon and stars, the better they could predict when to hunt, harvest and come together.”

Hidden Faces of the Asteroid Goddesses, by Jessica Murray
“The fact that conventional astrology has used just two planets to express unqualified femininity is an accurate reflection of the fact that there were by and large only two socially acceptable roles for women: the venutian consort and the lunar mother. In a larger sense, we have all been cut off from any but these two expressions of our own feminine power, women and men alike. And the problem goes beyond sex roles, to all the yin aspects of human experience, from our attitudes towards Mother Nature to our cluelessness about the right-hemisphere of the brain.”

The Saturn-Pluto Conjunction and the Transits for the year 2020 by Maurice Fernandez
“On January 12, 2020, Saturn conjoins Pluto at 22° Capricorn for a single, and dramatic, pass. With the Sun, Ceres, and Mercury within a degree, and the respective South Nodes of Saturn and Pluto close to this degree, we can expect this cycle to have an exceptionally powerful effect, from the year leading up to the conjunction and approximately two years following it. As previously mentioned, this cycle is bound to stimulate significant geopolitical dynamics that will affect the distribution of power in many structures on a global scale. Angular aspects between Saturn and Pluto are also known to reflect natural disasters, particularly seismic and volcanic activity.”
